My 3 1/2' barrel is leaning at about a 45 degree angle. What can I do to keep it from falling? The only water it gets is from rain or sprinkler spray. It's not on the sprinkler system.

You do not have a water problem with your barrel cactus. Most cylindrical-columnar barrels naturally lean in the desert. If you want it to grow straight you must deepen the whole that it's in and thoroughly pack the soil all around it. The best way is to leave it alone and let it be free to express it's own unique growth patterns. The Cactus Doctor

I have 2 leaning barrel cacti. One is vertical, but it appears to still be rooted. The other has pulled itself out of the ground. Is it possible to cut off the bottom of these plants and replant the upper part that is still green?

I would not advise cutting off the bottom of your cactus. If you re-root the bottom part it will eventualy begin to look just like the piece you cut off.

I was given a few barrels and they told me not to water them when it's on the ground? Is it true? Please help!

You should water them only after they have been planted in the groud. Water them for the rest of the summer for two hours on a very slow drip once a month.

6" Barrel cactus leaning precipitously, but now has 3 babies right near the soil line! Saw your post about re-setting it deeper but what about the babies? Can I remove them and repot?

The pups need to be removed gently without damaging the tissue. Try to save some of the roots if possible. Allow the pups to air dry three to four days before replanting them. Plant in a well draining soil mixed with fourty percent sand. They shoud begin to root out in a few months if left in a sunny area.
