I don't know what species my barrel cactus is and think it has been over watered sporadically. It is in a ceramic pot with a lot of sand in a very sunny southwest window. I have had it for ten years. It is gradually getting slightly tannish from the base up and becoming wrinkled slightly. The top appears very healthy bright green, normal spine distribution and absolutely no deformities. Should I give up on her? She is about 10" tall and 5-6 " diameter and has never flowered.

You should try cutting back on the watering. Never add water unless the soil is compltely dry. You should not be watering more than twice a month.Remember when it comes to watering most cacti, 'less is always best'.
