My cereus has an area where it looks wrinkled/shriveled and a little yellow/green. I last watered it about a week ago, before that was back in late May. It was planted in March. Does it need more water or less?

Add to previous post. One stalk and it's arms of the cereus feel thinner and spongier. The other stalk and it's arms feel thicker & firmer. Also, the ground next to it was hot but slightly damp feeling about 1-2 inches down.
Without looking at your cerus it's difficult for me to diagnose the cause of it's deterioration. The best thing to do is cut out the damaged branch from the bottom of the main trunk. This will provide more energy for new healthy growth.

I have a cactus given to me ,from a friend. She neglected to tell me anything about this particular cactus. It was a single cutting that i received a year or so ago. From that 6 inch cutting about 5 branches have come out from it. About 2 weeks ago I noticed a bloom forming on one of the branches. It seemed in this 2 week period to grow a large, bulbous type of covering with a seam on 4 corners and a twist on the end. I have been watching it for a week now and it still has not bloomed. It gets bright morning sun and I water it when the soil is dry. If it has stickers, they are slight, it is straight with a "crease " on four sides. Could you please help me to know how to care for it and the "bloom" I am most anxious to see.
